The Illinois Natural History Survey has a rich history in the Havana, Illinois, area, dating back to 1876, when Stephen A. Forbes began his biological collections there. While IRBS ecological research continues to move forward and tackle the modern challenges of the Illinois River and other large river systems, the station retains ties to its illustrious past. For this reason, Pegg and Havera assembled the “Illinois River Natural Resources Bibliography” in 2001 to document the vast amount of work done by INHS/IRBS staff near Havana.

The IRBS Google Scholar online database lists many of the publications authored by INHS’ current and alumni staff from the Havana area. The database allows users to search for authors, papers, and citations from the scientific community. Also, the station strives to maintain an Illinois River Biological Station Curriculum Vitae (IRBS CV) with current staff, media coverage, outreach events, presentations, committee service, proposals, and grants, as well as reports and publications.
